I really hate this.
I really hate what a lot of Christians put out. I am one, or at least I consider myself one. But I am a very very different one, who doesn't really agree or have ALOT in common with the ideal Christian, and of course I always have this weight that I carry around that seems to separate me from "non- Christians" on the most intimate level. Tonight I went to this talk on dating and sex in the Christian life, and I left early because of how angry I was. I have been there and thought what they thought, and learned on my own, even with ALL of the outside influences telling me this and that, supporting the whole "ideal Christian" and those against it. I have choose my own belief, in spite of what BOTH sides have said. And I'm sorry, having the rule no marriage or dating a non-Christian is bull shit, so is no drinking, smoking or swearing. Now I admit that no smoking, drinking and sex before and such is a GOOD idea, and keeps ones life, simple and safe. But its not fucking law! No dating non-Christians is complete garbage. My mother a Christian, my father not. Did they fight, yes. Did they argue about religion, maybe. Did they work it out and live a good life, and provide their children with the choice and a good life, absolutely. I'm sorry I just went on some useless and probably in-coherent tangent. What ever.

Here here buddy, you know what I have always said on this one. Always be big enough to make your own choices, that is why we are all independant people with the ability of personal thought and decision making powers. It never hurts to listen to all sides, but always remeber the choice is in your own hands.
Even if you make the wrong choice from time to time, you have the ability to learn from these lessons and make the better one next round, that is why we are here.
got some cold ones waiting for you.

But does the Bible not say to stay away from this sort of selfishness?
It clearly states that we are not to be unequally yoked ("Don't team up with those who are unbelievers. How can goodness be a partner with wickedness? How can light live with darkness? What harmony can there be between Christ and the Devil? How can a believer be a partner with an unbeliever?" 2 Corinthians 6:14-15, NLT).. in plain terms, not to become one with someone who does not seek a relationship with Christ. It's also a bad idea to go into a relationship with someone who isn't a Christian with the hope that they will either change or completely accept your beliefs. Maybe a bad decision is also a wrong one. (However God can always turn things good.. I'm sure there's plenty of wonderful in your parents' marriage.)
Also, Romans 13:12-14 says to stay away from feeding sinful desires ("The night is nearly over; the day is almost here. So let us put aside the deeds of darkness and put on the armor of light. Let us behave decently, as in the daytime, not in orgies and drunkenness, not in sexual immorality and debauchery, not in dissension and jealousy. Rather, clothe yourselves with the Lord Jesus Christ, and do not think about how to gratify the desires of the sinful nature." NIV)
Please tell me where in the Bible it says that these things are optional! I'm not saying a drink or smoke now and then is wrong, but the danger is when we let our habits begin to control us. It is then that the Devil has the chance to take a foothold in our lives.
Not saying I'm perfect; far from. But I'm trusting that God knows what's good for us. If you are a true follower of Christ, trusting in His wisdom as Lord of all, you would seek to follow His guidelines for your life. Wouldn't you?
That's just the thing it doesn't say anything is optional, but it all is. That’s what separates us from robots, that WE can create. We have free choice. We have the ability to learn and more importantly to live. Now I don't think for a second that I can change how you believe. But if you can't use your own head and come up with your own decisions, I believe you have already defeated yourself. Can you ever imagine yourself explaining to a child everything there is in life, both good and bad? Who do you think is better to witness to drug addict. One who has never touched drugs or one who has? I'm not saying that the life I live is good. Like you far from it. But I know God wants me to be happy, and I have NEVER met a Christian girl who I can relate to. As you have put it, I have much more in common with as you have said, those who follow the devil, or the darkness, or those who are wicked. Not because they are all those things, because I really believe that that is a lie. Not that there is no Devil, for like I think you believe, I also believe in a "devil", but not necessarily the same sort of devil, though to be quite honest I am not sure on that point. Either way, I think you should think about how Christians now a day think and how the ancient Israelites thought. Both think they must "earn" or pay back or do SOMETHING for there salvation. And I think that’s complete bull. I challenge you to look at the two commandments Jesus gave us. The ones about Loving the LORD in the highest and Loving your neighbour. Now don't ask your pastor or your friends, come up with the decision on YOUR OWN! Listen to what Christ says in YOUR heart, for after all, he is supposedly in your heart right? Other then that, this is the attitude that most Christians have, and it usually drives me mad. But this next poem is for you.
